v3.2.0

Feature version of v3.0.0.

Added features

  • Obsidianhtml Run has been added to help in getting a first working config for new users.
  • It is now possible to configure vault files to be exported to any path in the html output folder. Export vault files to html output.
  • The rsync copy method was added. This should be way quicker and be less buggy on MacOS. This is set as the default. If rsync is not present it fallsback to the older shutil method. Read more: Copy vault to temp dir
  • Inline footnotes are now supported. Implementing Footnotes
  • Breadcrumbs feature added.
  • Highlight and strikethrough formatting has been added. Getting the basics right#Formatting
  • ObsidianHtml now briefly highlights the section that was linked to when following a link.
  • Latex (mathjax) tweaks to offer greater range of support, and the correct fonts are used now. Implementing Latex.
  • The Tags Page now includes folding, so that you get all tags on one page.
  • Version can now be queried consistently using obsidianhtml version
  • Obsidian has a special behavior regarding the tags: frontmatter key, this has been added, and an empty tags: key now also no longer gives an error.

Bugfixes

  • \| as can be used when wanting to type | in a table, no longer leads to butchered table output. Note that any occurence of \| outside of codeblocks/-lines will be replaced with |!
  • Relative and absolute markdown links can be used interchangably on Obsidian, this was not yet the case in obsidianhtml. This has been fixed.
  • There were bugs when disabling # create_index_from_dir_structure. This has been fixed. Same for disabling the graph.
  • Fix disallowed MIME type (“text/plain”) on Windows. This happened when following the instructions in the documentation telling you to run python -m http.server. These instructions have been replaced with obsidianhtml serve. This is also a new tool that uses http.server with extra settings to serve js files as application/javascript.
  • Bugfix for when one exports their output into their vault (note: this is not recommended). Underlying bug was an issue in the new note finding code.

Changes

  • Running obsidianhtml -i config.yml has been deprecated for obsidianhtml convert -i config.yml to create a better structure for new tooling.
  • obsidian help can be called to get the new help text.

Breaking changes

Normally a feature version doesn't have breaking changes, but in this case it is for miscelaneous tooling that isn't core to the functionality.

The export settings have been changed. The old help text stated:

[Obsidian-html]
- Add -i </path/to/input.yml> to provide config
- Add -v for verbose output
- Add -h to get helptext
- Add -eht <target/path/file.name> to export the html template.
- Add -gc to output all configurable keys and their default values.
  • obsidianhtml -eht has been replaced with obsidianhtml export layout
  • obsidianhtml -gc has been replaced with obsidianhtml export default-config

Run obsidianhtml export by itself to get its helptext.
